Just bought one second hand for my wife's birthday. But it's almost impossible to use - gentle taps and drags are totally ineffective. Have to press and hold hard to get any sort of response. Will it be better when fully charged? Are they meant to be so difficult? Should I try to get a refund?

If I can't manage it, my wife won't with her arthritis.

I'm used to a Samsung touch screen phone (not a smartphone) that responds easily. Have I been spoilt?

Pretty sure I have read somewhere that some commentators have said that it requires either a firmer touch or a double tap to activate something, rather than the single light touch on many of the smartphones.
On that basis, i would say you have been spoiled :)

I have 2 kindles now - the original one, and I recently received a kindle fire, and I have had no problem with tapping and dragging - but I might be heavier- handed than you :)

Thanks LG. I'll play with it a bit more when my wife's out to see if I can discover the best way to get a response.
i've been looking at one today to be able to compare it to the Kobo Arc that is being launched on 16th. the pop-up ads are annoying bur apparently you can buy out if them for £10,00, but for speed and apps etc it will pale against the Arc.
