Problems accessing Hotmail etc

Since downloading AVG VirusScan and Sygate Firewall  and uninstalling out-of-date Macafee Virus Scan I've not been able to access my hotmail account and not been able to use my yahoo e mail account properly either. My Microsoft Media player also doesn't work.

Does anybody have any ideas how I can get things to work? (I've even uninstalled AVG and Sygate but problems persist)

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Can you do a system restore to a known working restore point?

Sligachan 14 - tried to do system restore but when I click on it all I get is a blank screen. any ideas?

May be worth a shot starting in safe mode and checking for viruses / spyware. Usually tapping the F8 key when the computer is switched on will get you to safe mode.

I reinstalled Macafee and everything is back to normal. Don't know how but I'm just glad!
