i know there are a couple of HD channels on freeview,can these be recieved by a Sky+ HD box without subscribing to Sky HD ??

A Sky+HD box will receive all the FTA (free to air) i.e. unencrypted HD channels like BBC HD, BBC 1 HD, ITV 1 HD and CH4 HD etc. NOT However Ch5HD for some reason. Without the HD subscription you won't get any encrypted ones like Sky1HD.
