I've searched previous questoins re. this but couldn't find one to match mine, so I apologise you remember answering something similar... My sister has a new television which she was told could receive HD channels. She has a new aerial. The television has freeview channels built in. She says she can't get the HD channels though. Does she need anything else? I see from previous questions that if she had a freeview box plugged in she would need a different connection than a scart but she doesn't have a box, just the television. Can anyone help please? I won't be able to answer questions about it but will be able to pass on any ideas. Thanks in advance X
Loath to answer as I'm no expert, but I think just because a TV is capable of displaying HD doesn't mean it has a tuner to receive HD signals. It is possible your sister needs a box to feed it the signal.
Expert or not OG, that makes sense. It's a shame the sellers of the HDTV didn't mention it when she bought it. And at least I know from here to tell her that she'll need to connect it with a cable called HDMI. Thank you.
If you can find out the exact make/model of the set we can look it up for you - some sets do have a freeview HD tuner built in and so do not need an external box.
HD freeview channels are found in the range 50-55 in the channels list - just check that they are definitely not there before spending any money.
