mobile won't ring!!

I have tried going through all the menus and settings, and my nokia 3410 insists on being in silent mode, so I'm missing calls and not waking up in the mornings. I have no idea why it went on to silent in the first place (about 3 weeks ago). How do I fix it??

Is you profiles setting correct? Press the on/off button once and it will go to profiles, then choose your option.

I have tried everything as well, on two phones. Maybe it's a known defect!!

Well, the handset was just BROKEN. Bought a new one, put my SIM in and it works fine, except I have lost my personal screen cos that's on the handset chip(booh!)

I was misled by the fact that the keys still beeped when dialling (different part of the chip) and the word "silence" on the screen which apparently means "You can silence this call if you want" rather than "your phone is set to silent mode"

So glad I've got a teenage daughter to explain these things  *blush*
