Tv Turns Itself On

why has my tv started to turn itsf on and off, its creepy, this morning I reached for the remote and the tv turned on before I picked it up.

Cecil..I ask how old the TV is because my new one does that if there is no movement in the room. Sometimes I have forgotten it was on, go back into the room and it switches on again. Power saving. x

the tv is about two years old, and has only been doing this in the last few weeks, I was in the bathroom just after lunch and I heard the tv go on in the living room, I was alone in the house, I have no cat and no wife either since I'm a girl, I phoned my son and he's coming over, I suspect to make sure the old girl has not finally lost it.

Could be that your neighbour has a similar TV, and his remote is switching yours on. The remote signal can travel through walls.

thanks folks, son has taken away the manual to read, till he comes again he says to switch off at the plug, so I don't get another fright, he;s a good boy really, although I'm sure he smirked when he left.
