Dla - The Assessment
6 Answers
Thank you for attending today Mrs. Alphabet. I see that you had a heart and lung transplant which rendered you bed ridden for 3 months. Unfortunately this didnt work and you to had have it done again. However, as you can lift your arms up, hold a pen, write your name and address and potentially use a key board, you are clearly fit for work. The government and millions of other people think that people like you are fit for work and are falsely claiming benefits. As a result, you will not receive any more DLA and will have to claim job seekers allowance. Mrs. Alphabet died 2 weeks later. At least the assessment agency received a bonus for removing Mrs. Alphabet from DLA. This based on a true story.

The rules have changed quite a lot:
and it is vital that if you are refused DLA you appeal
as the success rates are high - far to high
and thousands of people eligible don't.
C A Bs have a lot of practice in appeals and so give good advice
Jan 1957- this was undoubtedly true but the recent form I filled out,
had a terminal illness short-cut - too much bad publicity from the dead and dying I think.
Having had chemo myself and a spell on ITU with PCP,
I emerged somewhat slimmer and found on my doorstep a letter about DLA,
and thought Christ I dont believe this: they are going to find me fit to work !
They didnt in the end. I am sorry that mr jan 1957's final days were so distressing for you
