Digital Tv Recorder

I need a new digital TV recorder and wonder if anyone can recommend a reasonably priced, reasonably easy to use model?
We don't have Sky, just a regular TV with inbuilt Freeview.

Richers also do Humax- they are a Which? Recommended Retailer and will take time to explain all - without being pushy. I've bought lots of stuff from them over many years and have never been let down. Do you need to keep recordings (like you did with VHS tapes) on DVD? If so, then Panasonic have recording to DVD as well as hard drive. If you don't want to be able to...

Seeing how you have inbuilt freeview, are you after a freeview recorder, or just a recorder ??
We have a Toshiba DVD/hard drive/VHS recorder - no freeview, just a recorder.
It records from our freeview or Virgin box (whichever we set it to record) and we can also copy from any one of the formats, to any one of the others, i.e. we can copy VHS videos to DVD or to the hard drive, etc.

Direct from Humax - reduced price for 'graded' (but mine was effectively brand new) - the best HD recorder

Your link takes you to a list of makes and models of recording devises Zacs. I was wondering which one you went for and whether other people could tell me which ones they have and are happy with.
Otherwise I'm staring at them unable to distinguish one from the other just as I am in Argos or John Lewis. Which one should I go for.?

I recently bought the Panasonic DMREX773 mr from Richer Sounds. I was a bit limited because it had to be multi regional but I would have bought Panasonic anyway. I'm very happy with it so far. Easy to record and play back. I had an LG one before and I had nothing but trouble with it from the start - it was a pleasure to take it to the dump!
Sigh. They're not recommended by freeview they are Freeview. They're made by (or for probably) freeview. They say Freeview on them in the same way Humax ones say Humax on them.
As for the type, you may note in my second reply I said:

LOL and sigh back at you Zacs. you having me on?!
There's a Goodmans Freeview+ a Logik and Bush Freeview+, all listed on that site. My current one says Freeview + and its a Hitachi for goodness sake! But its bust and I haven't been happy with it.
Thanks 237 I'll avoid the LG and browse the Panasonics.
