Looking for free software download which also allows images to be saved (some downloads are just trials and don't allow you tosave)

There are at least 200 applications that have the ability to convert, save, and do many other things.
Or, if your heart is set on one particular application - ask me again. I will provide you with a link.
No offence, but I'd avoid Eternity's advice about trial software. The Gimp and Irfanview are both free.
If the only thing that you want to do is save as a jpeg then you can obviously use Paint but if you need more, the 2 above give you more features. They're both a little ugly looking in terms of the GUI but if you're not paying...
