running programme

whenever i turn my computer from standby  the computer always shows the following   "1 programme running"       how can i tell which programme is running and how can i get rid of it if needed    this has been occurring for a fortnight approx

Have you looked at task manager? If not, press Control, Alt and the delete (not backspace) button together, then go to Applications. It should tell you what programme is running, although this doesn't always work if the programme is running the background.

sasha13 tks for help running prog was picture manager  showing a sony folder with 4 pictures in it

will i by deleting it cause any harm  i do not need these photos anymore

Deleting it may not solve your problem if, in fact, it's a program, application or process that's running. In this case, it's better to uninstall the program properly instead of just trying to delete it.

First, find out more about the program. Find out what the process is called (e.g. Sony.exe) and type it into Google (on it's own) and you should find a page that will tell you exactly what it is and if it's safe to uninstall, which I imagine it is.
