I have a nice picture saved in Wordpad that i would like to use as a background, none of the usual methods of getting it work such as right click or on the toolbar, anybody help please?

Try copying the image, pasting it to Paint then saving it under a different name. Then go to Control Panel, Appearance & Themes, Browse and choose the new file as the background.
Your picture would have to be saved as an image (e.g. jpeg, gif or something) rather than being inserted into Wordpad and saved as a document.
See if Wordpad allows you to save the image alone from the existing file or else you may need to get a screen capture of it and paste it into an image editor such as Paint, PaintShopPro or Photoshop.
