I have suddenly been lumbered with 'Ask' instead of Google. Don't know why or how, but I don't like it. How do I get rid of the wretched thing?
Thanks in anticipation folks.

Which browser are you using?
Follow Steps 1, 2 and 4 here:

(Steps 3 and 5 are definitely 'overkill'!)
Just to the left of the Ask word on the task bar is their colored symbol. ( whatever that will be ) Click on this and you are given a choice of search engines. From Google to Wikipedia. I have Yahoo on now, but the switch is easy to do. Computer glitch probably put you where you are now.

Thanks for the responses. I'm now back to plain uncluttered 'google'. Must admit though, more by luck than judgement! Keeping your replies for future reference. The 'computer glitch' seems the most probable suspect.
Glad that you somehow managed to achieve what you were looking to but in the future be aware when you install something from the internet of the ask toolbar. free/shareware is quite stealthy and with a barely noticeable request (since we tend to click so quickly through) sneak extra Sugar like that onto your system. I've fallen victim before myself. I've actually been told the ask toolbar isn't safe. Most of that extra stuff probably isn't.
That might have been what happened to you, it might not have been. Since you seem to have no notion of what you did to solve the problem perhaps you should check your extensions to see if the ask toolbar there but since I don't know what browser you are using so I can't give you instructions.
