When I started my computer this morning a box appeared
headed up Run DLL.

In the box a message ' There was a problem starting'
and listing a code.

As a computer illiterate can someone please tell me in lay terms
how I can correct the problem?

Many thanks in advance.

Something's trying to start up, and trying to find the DLL (Dynamic Link Library).
I'm no expert, Kaya, but it could possibly be Malware. It can do no harm to download the free version of Malwarebytes, and let it scan your system.

Thanks for your post.

I've scanned my system via Malwarebytes without success.
I hope an 'expert' can advise me as I am worrying (probably
unnecessarily).
Is there a title bar for the box and, if so, does it contain the name of a program?

If it's a program that you recognise then re-installing it should restore the dll (and then a reboot may be required).

Thanks bibble.

It's all double dutch to me but it says-
C:/users/les/app data/local/temp/CT3306061 TBverifier.DLL
If you search for either CT3306061 or TBverifier.DLL then you'll find that it's not a uncommon experience but never having had to deal with it I wouldn't like to recommend any particular solution.

If there are any entries for Conduit in your installed program list (you can find this in the Control Panel) then try removing those; more advanced uninstallers will also search for extra items that are left over; beyond that basic action I don't know what would be effective.

Thanks very much for the trouble you've gone to.

I'll do as you suggest & see what I can find.

Cheers
Ccleaner should help. Kaya (free version). Mentioned here....

Sounds like it's a leftover from a toolbar.

Thanks again Builder.

I really thought you had cracked it for me as the link looked so
promising.
I deleted the conduit entry but, unfortunately, when I re-started
the machine the 'Run DLL' was still there.

It looks as though I'll have to swallow my pride and get help
from the Grandchildren!

Thank you for your efforts.
.......... just one more idea Kaya.
Assuming you downloaded Ccleaner.... you can delete "conduit" entries from "start up", but, run Ccleaner's registry cleaner as well. It sounds as though there are still "orphaned" entries in the Registry.
