Failed Internet Explorer 11 Update
5 Answers
I have had a problem with an update for IE11 for Windows 7 for x64 based systems which installs 75% then fails with error 9C47 unknown instillation problem. This has been ongoing since the end of November. I do not ever use Internet Explorer (I use Google Chrome). Do I have to keep this program installed on my laptop? Would removing it cause any problems? I have looked up the error code on various forums without finding a solution. It is a home laptop used by myself a few times a week. Thanks

As has been said by Methyl " You cannot remove Internet Explorer. It is impossible. You should be able to downgrade it to IE10 which is more suitable for Windows 7. "......
To revert to your previous edition of Internet Explorer.... You will need to open your Control Panel > Programmes and Features > View installed updates ( left hand side of screen) > scroll to Internet Explorer and click to remove.

You should run a repair on your updates , Type troubleshooting in the Start Search bar and open it up and scroll down to fix problems with Windows updates click on this and follow the prompts to do it. After you have done this try to download and install IE11 . IE11 is now the default browser for Windows 7 so if you try to install IE10 it will revert you to IE11.IE is part of Windows and cannot be removed as windows uses it from time to time to work.
