I have noticed a little device advertised on the TV, it is priced around £25 and it somehow connects to one's TV so that one can watch catch-ups I believe.

Am I right, what is it, and how does one connect it to one's TV?

Thank you.

It connects to your tv via HDMi and also plugs in to your internet router.

First answer was misleading - the box usually connects to your internet via wifi. Is this the one you saw advertised?

Thanks for your repy.

The Roku device although more expensive seems tio be very interesting, it is completely free with no monthly package is it?

It says it works off one's wifi, have you any idea how that works, one doesn't need meters of cable from the Virgin super hub upstairs down to the TV downstairs does it?

It also states that one should have a speed of at least 1.5Mbps how do I find how fast mine is please?
The £10 Sky box that connects ANY TV to the web and lets you watch online catch-up shows http://dailym.ai/14Pbv1I via @MailOnline
Test your broadband speed... http://www.broadbandspeedchecker.co.uk/
AOG, when you first connect the device you will need to set it up and connect it to the wifi using your Virgin passcode (it's on your Superhub) so no cables needed.

Search the internet for 'smart tv boxes' and you'll see there are several. If you can afford it you might find one with a hard drive recorder useful if you don't have a Virgin box.

Having said that, the Virgin Tivo and V+ boxes allow you to watch catch up tv for a small monthly fee and the service really is excellent. I would recommend that option as the broadband the box uses is separate from your internet broadband.

Thanks for your reply that sounds too good to be true, but do you have to sign up to a Sky package to be able to get one of these devices?
Not being huffy but the first link I gave is for the Sky Now box. All the info about it is there.
No AOG, all you're doing is redirecting your internet to your TV. No fee involved.

Thanks for that information, I have read into it but I am not sure how much it would cost.

I already have Virgin phone with unlimited calls, Virgin Media Broadband and Virgin Mobile, but not virgin TV, because there are now so many channels I don't watch but I just thought that it would be useful to catch up on missed programmes and also record some things.

I wonder if I could just have this box added to my existing package for a small increase in my monthly charges?

My download speed is 26.15 Mbs, and upload speed 2.29 Mbs
AOG, phone them. The Tivo is the most expensive but you should be able to get the V+ relatively cheaply, especially if you threaten to cancel and go to BT :D

Bet you'd get the tv AND a reduction in your bill. Worth a try - the phone call is free.
The Sky Now box doesn't support ITV catch up. Just be aware exactly what you will get before you buy.
AOG The Sky NowTV at £10 is an absolute bargain. You get access to BBC iPlayer, 4oD and Demand 5 though, which are burnt into the firmware alongside Sky News. Some say it's a stealth device, designed to sell you Sky content but only if you want it.

If you want more it lets you watch Sky's sport and movie channels without a bulky Sky box. Movies cost £8.99 a month, which is less than the price of a new DVD -- not to mention most cinema tickets -- and you can buy into sports event-by-event, for £10 per day. But you don't have to.
