I got a samsung galaxy s4 i9505, I rooted it and downloaded clockworkmod recovery with the intentions of changing the rom to the foxhound diamond dogs 3.5, so I did by going into recovery mode and installing the zip file I downloaded through my phone. Everything was ok, it rebooted fine until I realise that my phone was somehow unrooted... I tried the same method I did the first time I tried rooting.... Unfortunately, it somehow can't be root... Any reasonable explanations? Is there anything I've done wrong? Anything I can do with the current situation that I'm in? Thanks

When you say it's not rooted, do you mean your custom rom is not installed, or it is installed but there is no root access?

Do you still have CWM installed? That's the only tricky bit. Turn off your phone completely (not just the screen) then hold down up & home while pressing the power button. Does it boot into CWM? If so you can flash the rom again (or any other rom you like) very easily.

If you don't have CWM, start again and follow the first part of this guide to get it installed. Read it very carefully as it is quite easy to mess things up and make your phone unusable

@hammer the rom is installed but there seems to have no root access and looks like it still has cwm installed
Question Author
@hammer er, my mistake cwm is not installed...so I just need to install?
Yes, just start from the very beginning and try again. There are loads of tutorials on how to get CWM installed, including the one I linked to above.

The short story is install heimdall, make sure you have the right drivers, download CWM and copy it over using heimdall. Then you can install any rom you like.
Question Author
@hammer from the very beginning I actually used Odin, do I use that method again?
Odin, heimdall, whatever.

I see you are still having trouble looking at your later posts, I'm not an expert by any means, just picked up a few things playing with my phone like you are doing now. I would recommend the xda developers forums, there are many very knowledgable people there - just be specific with your symptoms and make sure you serach properly for an answer before asking - they don't like to spoonfeed there!
