I thought I had backed up a driver to flash drive but my pc didn't recognise it when I tried to reinstall it.

Is there a guaranteed method of backing up and restoring drivers?
I am using Windows 8.1

Can anyone help?
There are various programs that claim to be able to back up drivers:

but the best advice on that page is probably to use several of them so that, if one fails to work, you've got another chance.

However failures are frequent!

Thanks for that.
Could I possibly back a driver to the cloud?
The problem of backing up drivers to anywhere (whether that be to the cloud, to a USB stick or to anything else) is that some drivers might need to have an installer program run in order to install them (in order to make changes to the registry).

However it might be worth simply copying your Drivers folder and seeing if that can later be imported back again.
