Help Please With Shockwave
23 Answers
On Firefox when I play Criminal Case via Facebook it has started to crash daily during play, and a panel saying send report or refresh
When I log on with F/F again I just get a blue screen that sometimes flashes then I cant get back on-line except with Internet Explorer which I am using now.
I have tried refresh, system restore and done a scan, but still cant get back on-line with F/F.
Any help please?

Thanks methyl,
I have windows 7 and the probs I am getting is on F/F, IE is okish but slow and I keep getting pop-ups even though I have a blocker.
When it first crashed about 4 days ago it mentioned shockwave not responding and something about plugin.
When I did a system restore the first time to an earlier date it was OK, but now I get a blue or black screen and a cursor.
As for what I did when this happened, I was just playing a game from FB and when I went to collect energy, it crashed.

It appears you able to activate Firefox before it crashes whilst you are playing an 'on-line' game. Consequently I am thinking along the lines of Methyl and indeed feel that you may have 'nasties' in your computer which could be within your 'Add-ons'.
As starters, before you report further in this thread. Download the free edition of Malwarebytes and run it through as a quick scan. ( A full scan could take a few hours and is Not necessary for the moment)

Getting shot of the PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programmes) should help matters of getting Firefox back and working satisfactorily.
If you are able to click onto Firefox and get a start page, I suggest the following.:-
Click Firefox > Help > About Firefox.....and make sure it is up-to-date as being FF26.
Next Click open Add-Ons > Plugins and check to ensure all are up-to-date.
Then have a look in Extensions and remove anything you feel has turned-up uninvited.
Shut down and restart Computer for all changes to be implemented.

Don't worry about taking up ABers time. We are here to help folk as much as possible. Consequently, before you rush into paying for repairs which you could possibly do yourself, please try using your Internet Explorer to download and install Firefox. Hopefully, it will overlay itself as an updated version onto whatever edition your have installed of the browser which is ceasing to function. This way you should Not loose settings which you have for your present Firefox.

Good afternoon trt........I am at a complete loss to understand the reason for your being able to use your computer with IE but all efforts with Firefox are proving useless.
Please allow me to ask you a question before I give-up on the issue involved.... Obviously you have downloaded a Firefox 'set-up' file but have you run the file to install Firefox.? Initially you will have imported a file into your 'Downloads Folder' and that needs to be opened and 'run' for Firefox to actually be installed.
I am at a complete loss to understand your screen being split into half white and half blue. Computers are strange 'animals'.!!
Sorry, a further question.... Would you like to see if Google Chrome can be loaded as an alternative browser for you ?......I have Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Firefox and Safari.

Hi Alex, its me again, the pest!
OK, I did run with FF and have now downloaded Google Chrome. How do I get it to be my browser?
I did another Malware quick scan and had another 140 PUP which have been deleted. I also did a MSE scan.
Regarded the split white and blue screen, it sometimes go black with that small blue/green circle going round and round.

I am assuming that you have 'Run' the Google Chrome 'set-up' file which is within your 'Downloads' folder. If so, you should have a short-cut icon on your start-up screen which if clicked will open a page with 3 horizontal bars on the top right hand corner. Click the bars > Setting > scroll down and click 'Make Google Chrome My Default Browser'.
Please let me know the outcome........Alex.

If you now have GC as your default browser and IE is working , then I can't think that there is anything wrong with your Operating System (W7). However it does appear that something really nasty has attacked your Firefox and I am thinking that you should uninstall FF and do a new download and re-install.
You may loose some items which you had programmed in FF. However, if at present you are unable to use FF, loss of items will Not matter.
Best wishes......Alex.

I am thinking that you risk loosing the history of your game unless (like Answerbank) there is a record of your input being held on site by Facebook.
Are you able to pick-up FB with Internet Explorer and test the position.
I honestly know nothing about FB, but the thought has crossed my mind that the litters of PUPs which are entering your computer could be as a result of playing an on-line game. Nasties can come along with Games and/or Apps.
There is a very good chance that, providing during the un-installing procedures you DO NOT TICK the box 'Remove my Firefox personal data and customizations' (see No 7 instruction) you will be left with the items which will be re-set into the renewed FF Browser. It should only be necessary for you to proceed as far as instruction No 8 and, if this re-establishes Firefox, I'll then tell you how to see if there are still items to be removed from Add-ons/extensions etc.
I'll try to answer any further questions you may have on matters......Alex.

Obviously after the uninstalling you will need to download again FF.
