I have an HTC smartphone that I have been quite happy with but it often shuts down by itself and the camera doesn't always work. I have been advised by 02 that I am due an upgrade. My friends seem divided between the iphone and the Samsung Galaxy. Just wondered which handset the Answerbankers prefer or would recommend?
Your friends are divided because they are BOTH very good phones. You really need to go to compare them yourself,,,after all, you are the person who'll be using it.
I love my samsung, my son has just upgraded to htc one after similar issues to you with his old one. He loves it, and I have to say its anice phone. If you are comfortable with htc then that may be an option.
As has been said try them out, personally I prefer a phone I find easier to use over spec against similar phones.
I moved from a Samsung Ace for the same sort of reasons but I got a Sony xperia Z and it's brilliant. Everything works every time you press on it and it never freezes. Only thing is when I got it I thought it was too big but in used to it now.
I would say you should not bother with the iPhone because using iTunes is a complete annoyance whereasb with android handsets it is easy to put music and video on your phone, which is a big plus for me. Don't get hung up on Samsung and iPhone, there are other options and the Z would be mine as I've never had a bad Sony phone.
My worry about all android phones (whether sony/samsung/htc or whatever) is the inherent instability of the operating system - it's already bad and can only get worse.
Open source for apps may be good, but it comes at a price - which I feel now has become to high - the base android system is just a bag of unreliable nails.
After years of happiness with a samsung galaxy I've bailed out to the safety of the Apple nanny state and gone to an iPhone.
All of a sudden I have a phone that 'just works' rather than constant fiddling and crash recovery scenarios.
