i have windows 8.1 and every time i move to the right of the screen a seethrough bar pops out with 5 shortcuts on it, and a large clock appears from the bottom - they dont go away unless i click somewhere

they are getting on my nerves - is there a way to disable this?

Right-click on the taskbar and select Properties, in the Navigation tab untick the When I point to the top-right corner show the charms and that sidebar will then only appear if you move the mouse pointer to the bottom right corner.

thanks bibble but already done that - its the lower corner that is the most annoying - any idea how to stop that one as well?
i haven't yet tried this http://winaero.com/comment.php?comment.news.219 but I did use their previous offering Skip Menu Suite which did the trick for W8 (have just spent the last few minutes re-testing that and it doesn't work in 8.1))
first test of that (CharmsBarKiller) and it seems to work
