It can be used to record sound from your computer but only if the configuration of your sound card (or onboard sound module) permits it. You need to see which sources are listed as available in the drop-down menu. (I've been able to use Audacity to record such audio on some computers but not on others. It's usually possible where there's a separate sound card fitted and occasionally possible where there isn't):
