I have an Advent Laptop with a very noisey fan and as i use it for music it's became a bit of a problem, so does anybody know how or where to buy silent fans for laptops, or have any other solutions.

Lorenzo, I am not sure there is such a thing.I am on my fourth laptop, and the fans seem to be getting louder each time I upgrade.I suppose it is only logical that the more powerful your processor is,the hotter it is going to get,and a bigger/faster fan is then required to cool it down.

Maybe a laptop cooler may help. I don't know if they work since I don't have a laptop, but the theory is good.

These USB coolers might also add noise - haven't used them but I do use a passive laptop pad made in Sweden. Being passive it is silent and seems to do the job. Its main job is to protect your thighs (and other bits!!!) from the heat of your laptop. My fan hardly ever comes on. Do a search on google for 'climator pad' or go to the official website www.climator.com. I got mine from simply.co.uk (now Misco) for 19 ex vat but I can't find it on their site anymore and Froogle doesn't recognise it. I'm using it now with a Dell Latitude D800 while watching the Athletics on TV - wife is sitting next to me and is only disturbed by the click of the keys on the keyboard. Sad or what?!
