Installing Internet Explorer.
8 Answers
I already have FireFox 27.0.1 set as my browser but i also want to install Microsoft's internet explorer since the old version on my computer has now failed to load.
I went through a lengthy procedure yesterday to install the latest version, by going through the long procedure of uninstalling the old version, checking my computer for viruses, and then finely installing the latest version.
It still doesn't load.
Any ideas please?

It's my guess that there is a fault within IE that needs fixing and you need to use Microsoft's 'Mr Fixit'

You cannot delete IE entirely from any computer/laptop into which it has been installed. Any attempt at deletion only causes IE to revert to its previous version.
I do Not know the method which you adopted, yesterday, to unistall IE. Did you find it in your Windows 'up-dates' and then ,from there, deleted it.?.
Tell me what is your Operating System (Windows XP, Vista' W7 or whatever) and I may be able to advise you, which up-to date edition you require of IE and how to download it to your computer.

No I went into control panel found it in install/remove list and selected uninstall.

It is Windows XP, but I now find that after I deleted the new version the old version Windows Explorer 7 has now started working again, but this also loads something called 'BING' whatever that is?
I also notice that after using that programme you advised me to use, it has added something called Windows PowerShell 1.0 to my list of programmes and it doesn't give an option to remove it.
Thanks for taking the trouble to get back to me.

@redman41.....I am inclined to agree with you that perhaps a new computer is the answer. However, whilst, come April, XP will no longer be supported by Microsoft, it will Not mean that the system will become defunct. XP will continue to work and if one has a good Anti Virus programme installed, it should continue to work satisfactorily.
@anotheoldgit.....Bing is another Search Engine similar to Google, Yahoo, etc. There are some interesting ones about and a really good one with an atrocious name is 'Dogpile'. You can make anyone your homepage for start-up.
I have never had any experience of using Windows Power Shell and Do Not feel it is something for us ordinary home users of computers. I doubt that it will do any harm if left in your Computer.
You can download IE 8 from here :-
