Hi Ed. Can you please help me. My computer has been hacked. How can I change my username and password. Also how can I let everyone know that I will not be able to receive quiz requests by e-mail and return them by e-mail as well. All my contacts have disappeared and presumably the hacker has used the e-mails for criminal intention (money) I apologise but it us not my fault perhaps a lesson to be had for obtaining and returning quizzes by e-mail instead of the safe postal way, even though it costs 50p plus an s.a.e. I would rather be safe than sorry now. :(

Change your password...
You've probably been hacked by a computer that is now sending out emails for cheap viagra or slimming pills.

okay, but how?
You need to change your email password. Not your one on here. Who do you use?
I can't see any reason to change your user name on here.
You can change your AB password if you want. I think you can also change your email address on your AB profile
And as ummmm says, change your email account password. You could even dump it and get a new email address for people you know
it's probably just your email that's been hacked rather than your computer? If that's the case, just change the password on your email, preferably to something a bit tricky with letters and numbers (but not so tricky you can't remember it). Then life will continue as normal and you won't have to tell anyone, though if as ummmm says they're sending out spam to your contacts it might be well to say "Sorry everyone" to them.

Hi jno tried 4 times yesterday via BT to change the password but each time
it said that the password choosen was not recognised. After two hours we were just cut off from the operator (they putthe phone down on us.) So, now we are awaiting the Managing Director of BT to see why this has happened. So AB's a very BIG SORRY. I cannot thank you all personally because the hacker has all my contacts I only have my personal ones.
Hi Guillebrougues,

Such a shame. I'm sure the quizzers will rally to quickly refill your list however!

Change your password on whatever service you use for your email account.

Change your password on AB here: http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/user/edit_profile.php and click "Change password" to enter a new password twice.

Remember to hit save at the bottom when you're done.
I think gb has not been able to change her password, Ed- although I'm not sure why she was trying to get it done by BT over the phone so maybe I misunderstood
why are you ringing BT to change your email password?

just go into your user account settings, in your email program, on your computer, and change it there!

For the attention of joko. just red your post. I tried to change my passwords 3 times on my own but, my e-mail address that I have had for many years would not accept the passwords with that address. Anyway I changed from BT to GMail and even then it would not accept that old email address at all no matter what password I put in , however the problem was solved when I changed the old e-mail to a brand new one and problem solved, One can only assume that the so called HACKER liked my old e-mail address and wanted to keep it. I hope it give him or her something that they really do deserve. .
