need a new one, can anyone suggest a good one, preferably one that actually does what it says, as mine doesn't, its adequate no more. I am now unable to move well, bend, so anything where i don't have to do it much.
good make, best picker uper, if you know what i mean,
also a good carpet sweeper, same principle, as i just killed the one i have by shaking, and it promptly fell apart.

Get a Ge Tech Ram. Rechargeable, in readily easy to use and carry. Look for the video ad. I think it's brilliant. And because it's cordless... no bending down and messing with plugs and cables. Go for it! And if you are my sort of age ...it's incomparable. Also look it up on John Lewis web site and read the reviews! You won't regret it. Also handle on stem position...

need to get this soon as can't seem to get the carpets free of dust,
a good make is a start, cost needs to be under 200 quid, preferably lot under
I have a Numatic 'Henry' very reliable and powerful.
I work with an agency and many of my jobs are cleaning, ALL the places I work as a cleaner ,schools, care homes, offices have the Numatics so they must be pretty good. It is a 'cylinder' cleaner though and I know some people prefer an upright.
emmie, will the weight be an issue ?.
You can get a Numatic for just over £100, or just under 'online'
Question Author
is the Henry the tubby one, isn't that some bending, as i really need something that doesn't entail much, and light enough not to lug it around.

Oreck are good and lightweight but they are pricey, I got a reconditioned one from Ebay and it has been a marval
Question Author
tony, it has to be fairly light, as not able to push me pull you
Question Author
i can't afford to spend a small fortune on it, have seen a vax upright at Argos that might do, the recommendations look good, just need some input from you, as you might steer me to something better
how about the carpet sweeper, very disappointed with the one i have used, as its wibbly wobbly and doesn't really get the bits up.
Question Author
are Vax any good, does anyone know.
Yes Henry is the 'tubby' one. You have to bend to some degree with any cleaner to empty it or change the bag for example.
Question Author
Eddie, i know about the emptying, its the actual usage i am concerned about. pushing it around, i don't do it often, but had to today as the carpet looks grubby, but the Hoover i have is not really adequate,
Vax are pretty good, as to carpet sweepers why bother when you can just vacuum? I can't say I have seen carpet sweepers on sale recently.
Question Author
not sure about e bay, as first i have never used it,
and if the thing doesn't work, or there is a problem i would have to sort it, by sending it back, or however that works
Question Author
because the fact is just a bit of dust doesn't require the full monty, just a quick sweep, i had one that wasn't bad, but this one was useless - waste of money
The numatic is on wheels it just follows you around as you clean with the nozzle on the flexible tube, you don,t have to lift it (apart from taking it up stairs of course) Lighter than an upright where you push the entire thing around.
emmie, I didn't mean for you buy from ebay, I just put the links up so that you'd get the idea of what they look like.
I agree about the Henry/Numatic (Same thing I believe) really powerful but easy to move around.
