It is scandalous that we have bought these flat screen tv s naturally expecting something at least as good in the sound as our old ones, to find how bad they are and have to pay - in the case of the Bose system - twice the cost of the television. My old Grundig telly had wonderful sound and I now find I have to buy a Panasonic soundbar to be able to listen without constantly fiddling with the sound on nearly every programme.

Thanks all -yes we bought a new Samsung smart tv and can't believe the poor sound quality -you'd think they could arrange the speakers facing front around the edge

It wouldn't matter where they placed the speakers...it's the SIZE that's lacking. We all want super-thin TVs (apparently) and there's nowhere to place decent speakers.
