I am thinking of investing ina steam cleaner, I have hard wood floors and recently somebody told me that you shouldn't use steam cleaners on them, please can anyone tell me if she is correct about this, thank you.
Whilst I have no idea, I do have an opinion :-) I would have thought it would depend on how well the wood was sealed. For sure you risk it swelling up if not fully isolated from the outside world with a thick coating of something unlikely to wear off. Why not ask the floor manufacturer or company that lay it for you, for advice ?
Depends on what sort of a steam cleaner you are considering. If it as a steam mop and the floor is very well sealed with a urethane finish or something similar I would.
If the finish is patchy or "oiled" definitely not.
