Vodafone Protect is free, you can pay to get advanced features not sure how much it is.
In my opinion it's not a very good or efficient app and you can get free apps that do a better job

Assuming you've got internet on your monthly allowance, you shouldn't have to do anything.
If you try sand access maps whilst at home (or anything else that uses the internet), it'll do so via your Wi-Fi (assuming you've got it set up properly).
Once you're out of range of your Wi-Fi. it'll automatically reconnect to the internet via your provider, Vodafone.
