O.K So I have extracted my audio book from it's RAR file. I want to put it on my Archos mp3  player and I am scared as I haven't had my first ever mp3 player for long; and I have a feeling I will do something wrong. Help me.

What's the problem?  As long as the files you transfer onto your mp3 player are mp3 files you can't go wrong.  If you exceed the player's memory capacity it won't let you transfer anymore.  If it doesn't play the file when you put in on there you can always take it off.

Remember that an mp3 player is merely a flash-memory stick with controls and displays.  If it plugs directly into a USB port then you can ignore the manufacturer's software and transfer files to it as if its a removeable data storage device, i.e. flash-memory stick.  You can even use it as such and download any files you like to it from your PC and upload them to another PC.

Skids is right, you'd be hard pressed to damage anything even by experimenting with what you can put on it. In my opinion you've probably already done the hardest part by UnRARing the file. WinRAR isn't very user-friendly in my opinion.
