just ordered Samsung galaxy s5 phone will i be able to use the 32gb SD Memory Card in my htc desire in my new phone or should i buy a new one.

I am a bit naive when it comes to phones. when i got my new phone i also received a card which looked like a large SIM. had no idea what it was for and eventually threw it away. now think it might have been a memory card.
It wasnt obvious but does it mean i cant do music (which i wouldnt anyway)
