I'm in Windows 8 looking at photos in a normal folder via the normal desktop. I open a photo and it opens in the Windows 8 photo app. Now I want to close it and see my folder of photos again.

How do I do that?

The only way I've found for getting out of the Windows 8 photo app takes me back to the Windows 8 Start screen, which is not what I want!

Thanks for the answer. However the problem is not where they are stored. The problem is, once you look at a photo in the Windows 8 photo app, how do get back to the folder without going back to the start screen and then having to click on the Desktop tile.
