? Mumps
3 Answers
Hi everyone
While I was eating dinner this evening, every time I salivated, it really hurt under the angle of my jaw and above it. Now, a few hours later, I have a swelling all round that area. I have been feeling under the weather for a few days and I am worried that it's mumps. In 10 days we are going to the states on holiday!
If it is mumps, a) is there any treatment and b(how long will it last?
I am a 64 years old and I imagine I would have built up an immunity to 'childhood' illnesses by now! If not mumps, what else could come on suddenly and cause these symptoms please? Could it be parotitis?
Any advice much appreciated.

Almost certainly isn't mumps. It is a stone in your Salivary Duct. No big deal, just see your GP on Monday.
