Blocked Ear

I've had a blocked ear for 3 weeks...saw the doctor a week ago, and luckily he said there's no wax build-up, no infection and I'm not getting any pain, he suggested after a week of Olive oil drops to try Sodium Bicarbonate drops for another week.. I'll start those tomorrow..its not clearing at all... and driving me BONKERS...lol..anyone out there think of anything else I can try?..I'm flying off on hols soon.. be nice to clear it before I go.. Thanks for any answers.. but you'll have to shout... I'm Deaf in one ear!!!! hahaha.... : - )) Mrs C x

Do your ears pop when you blow your nose or yawn? Do they 'click' when you swallow? If there is nothing in the ear canal then there is probably mucus in the middle ear so putting anything in your ears won`t make any difference.
I agree with 237.......it sound like Eustachian dysfunction.

Go to the chemists and get a nasal decongestant spray..anything....otrovine as an example and use it aggressively over the next 3-4 days.
P.S Don't bother with the ear drops tomorrow.

Have you tried candeling your ear? Doctors don't admit to any scientific reasons this should help, but then, they don't ever want to approve of homeopathic rememdies. Ask about it where homeopathic items are sold in your area.
Dotty...that could be dangerous advice.

Candling MAY be OK for wax removal, but crisper doesn't have any wax according to her GP, so she would be "candling" her ear drum...not good.
