Why bother? Most music is now already available in digital format. Whilst I have never bought one I do not see why one would need an amplifier also since that is only used to boost the signal for your speakers. I'm confident that the deck would come with any software it needs for your PC to detect & process the signal directly. And it's likely Windows would cope anyway. Doesn't the advertisement confirm this ?
I have one but find removing all the crackles, hiss and pops (not to mention the odd jump) is a right faff. I ended up buying my favourite albums on CD.
I have one and it just plugs in.
I like the hisses and pops.
Isn't software available that can batch remove noise ? But yes, I can see how a new clean digital recording from the master tape would be better quality.

I like the idea of buying albums on cd but one album I wanted to listen to in particular is Cosmic Wheels by Donovan. £78.00 on cd. Thought it would be cheaper to by a record player

You can easily search the Spotify library by artist or track to find the artist or album you want to listen to.

You don't have to pay any money to Spotify to listen tacks, though you will get the occasional advert.

If you want to you can pay Spotify a small amount of money each month and get no adverts.

I have had a look on Spotify and there are a couple of dozen or more Donovan albums (though not Cosmic Wheels).

Donovan albums available include: Greatest Hits, Best of Donovan, Very best of Donovan, Essential Donovan, Donovan in Person, Gift from Flower to a garden, Live in concert, Island of Circles, Hurdy Gurdy Man, Donovan 1965, Sunshine Superman, Whats bin did (his first album), Fairytale (his second album), Mellow Yellow, Lady of the stars, Season of the Witch and a few others.

For many other artists from al eras there are also a similar selection of albums.

Use Audacity.

It also has some cleanup tools.

You will also need Lame Encoder in order to save as MP3 from Audacity.
I know its not the same but you could download it from iTunes for about £8.
