Bt Vision. What Replacement
9 Answers
I am getting rid of BT vision but keeping unlimited broadband and the phone line.
What can I use to get BBC iplayer etc, and to tape programmes.
My present tv is four years old, and is not a 'smart' tv.

I recently bought the £9:99 NOW TV gadget. Very pleased with it and its easy to use all the iplayers, not just the BBC one, and you don't need a smart TV to use it. But you can't record I'm afraid. http:// www. nowtv. com/

Thanks Micky, that's a good start.
Maydup. We got stuck with BT when we moved house and I never got round to changing it till now, (pure laziness). It's a great system when it's working. Loads of extra programmes and films BUT it constantly breaks down. I have been onto the Indian call centre at least seventeen times in four years, had engineers round, had new control boxes, everything and still it stops working for no reason.
Now I just pull out all the plugs, wait five minutes and the plugs in again, but this is infuriating if you are in the middle of something.
Also very expensive. We ended up paying £80.00 a month for phone, unlimited broadband and BT Vision. I'm sure you can get much better deals.

This is a better buy as it has all the catch up channels, not just the BBC.

Jennykenny...I have had another thought !
From what you have said, I get the idea that you mainly watch the BBC, and other main broadcasters, rather than all those satellite ones ?
NOW TV hasn't got a facility to record, but all the iplayers keep their programs available for ages after the original broadcast....BBC for instance keeps all its programs available for 30 days. So you won't really need to record these, as you can watch them anyway on the Iplayer !
Not sure whether this helps !
By the way, the NOW TV thingy was terribly easy to set up, and you don't need to pay for any subscription, although I am giving the £6:99/month Entertainment package a go for a month or two, to see if I need it.
