Registry Errors/junk Files/broken Shortcuts
4 Answers
I've an AVG scan and it has picked up on these but I have to sign up for one free or pay to do them more often.
Can I do these myself without signing up to anything?
I know how to remove the junk files.
Thanks for any help, excuse any delay in response, am having some difficulties typing on here as it seems to go slow and then miss bits out and freeze so can be a pain trying to write and edit and such.

However there's just one freebie that's regularly recommended by the technical press (and which I'm happy to use myself). It's the free version of CCleaner:

It will certainly do everything that AVG's offering might be capable of, so perhaps it the way forward for you?

As has been said, often these companies give the impression that there are all sorts of problems on your computer so you then go and buy another piece of their software.
If the computer is running ok then don't be tempted with their software.
Note that Windows comes with a "Disk Clean Up" option which will get rid of a lot of the "junk" files so try running that.
Then do a further clean up with CCleaner.
