Iphone 5S Saying 'cannot Take Photo'
12 Answers
My iphone 5s throws up a message saying that there is not enough available storage to take a photo. I have deleted loads of pictures and videos and music but the message still appears.
What do I need to do?
Thanks

An iPhone 5 photo might only be around 2 or 3Mb in size but (because of the way that file compression works) an image with a lot of detail in it could be quite a bit bigger. Your phone probably needs at least 5Mb (and possibly rather more) memory available in order to be able to take a single photograph.
You'll need to look at what's really taking up your phone's memory, which is likely to be an excessive number of apps. So delete anything that you don't actually use and check the available memory again.

Thanks again.
I have deleted some more pictures and apps too.
I have also deleted all music from my phone.
I'm quite good at regularly moving pics and vids from my iphone to my laptop. However I always thought that an iphone was able to store quite a few pics & music etc?
If I deleted much more (esp apps) I would have to say that my phone wasn't really working for me very well. I would have thought that I would be quite a low user but maybe not?

Thanks Fitzer. I was wondering why I couldn't find instructions on how to install a memory card into an iphone!
I tried finding out last night but couldn't - I think my brain was running a bit slow as it was after 2am!
I have tried again this evening and thanks to the link Chris gave me I can see how much space everything is taking up. I'm going to go through them later this evening and hopefully free up some space.

The low end iPhones ship with only 8Gb of disk space which is not really enough as the system software (iOS) can quite easily eat up more than half of that.
Do you use iCloud? You can put 5Gb of photos onto the cloud, freeing that amount up on your iDevice. Your pictures are still viewable in low resolution on your device and computer, but take up a fraction of your iPhone space.
