I'd suggest checking your antenna connection ;-)
Maybe your tv is so smart it recognises you are running an illegal box.

Have you tried changing the input?

i have no tv channels from virgin, i pay only for internet. reason being i get free channels via my android box,

ive now taken ethernet cable from router and plugged it directly into tv, though still nothing is happening.

bearing in mind it is a smart tv with inbuilt wifi and feeview .

im going to end up in the asylum at this rate.
Question Author
what is changing the input ? im thick as champ where techy stuff is involved.
Make sure the "source" is showing digital tv.

i do not have an outside ariel i run my last tv through virgin media cable. ie router.

but now i only pay for internet with no channels

Do you still have the Box your equipment came in?
You're not going to get Freeview channels as you haven't connected it to the aerial, which is what your tv has been searching for during set up. Change the input or source to the HDMI port your illegal box is connected to. Should be labelled input or source on your remote control.
Question Author
ive just pressed source button it is showing as follws below;

1.tv
2.EXT 1
3. side av
4.hdmi 1
5.hdmi 2
6.ypbpr
7.vga/pc

Try the hdmi options one at a time, assuming you've connected your illegal box by hdmi cable
Question Author
HC4
1. android box connected to router via ethernet
2. hdmi cable from android box connected to tv.
done a search for channels via source button on both hdmi channels, all im getting up is ( no signal )

could hdmi cable be broken, i noticed it was slightly bent as i was pulling it out of old plasma tv 1 hour ago.

must say old tv was working perfect with this box.

If you've still got the old tv, hook your android box up to it and check that it still works.
You've told us the list offered to you when you press the Source button but have you actually scrolled down to 'HDMI 1' (or 'HDMI 2', depending upon which socket you used) and pressed 'OK'?
Yes, he has according to his post at 17:35
Question Author
i have now connected old tv to android box, nothing working, i suspect hdmi lead has broken , as i say i noticed it bent.

i will go to argos now buy a new one, i take it ( as ive been advised on here before ) that all hdmi leads are somewhat the same and do same job , yes ?
Question Author
benchico , out of all the sources ive pressed none of them are showing any channels whatsoever.

i have only hi speed broadband , virgin , in my home to run my android box for free tv.
On a related note does anyone know whether a TV licence is needed with this sort of arrangement?
Let us know whether the change of cable helps- although I have a feeling it won't be that
Question Author
im away to argos now, i will be back in 15 mins, will update.
