At the moment Microsoft is offering folk the opportunity to Reserve Windows 10. Consequently , during the next few days, installation files will be downloaded to those who have opted for W 10. However, as I understand the position, W 10 will then have to be installed from a downloaded folder. This is then the point of final decision.... .To install or not to...

I never went to Windows 8 - taken the old driver off my pc to the new one until the launch, expected sometime in August and then my man will switch out the drivers and redirect some of the Biomes. He says it looks good with the touch screen functionality and the ability to switch into keyboard mode for Word etc - which I prefer for work.
I shall certainly Not be rushing to install Windows 10. Think of all the problems which were encountered with W 8 and resulted in W8.1 having to be brought-out.
Bear in mind that you will have 12 months to take-up the offer of a free download; during which time any faults will be exposed by those who rush into matters.

Should you ? If you wish.
But I'd echo Hans' caution. The offer is on for some time no point in rushing unless you are eager. There will be issues, the early adopters act as testers to wrinkle these bugs out. Depends on how happy you are being one of them.
(Might be worth loading onto your 2nd of maybe your 3rd PC ;-) )

This is then the point of final decision.....To install or not to install. I say wait a while otherwise you may find that there is not a way back and you might regret matters.

So glad I have seen this thread,I,too, accepted the offer of Windows 10 upgrade. But not sure whether I will install or not...apparently there will be an option to cancel when the time comes to do so(29th July ,I think).
I have Windows 8.1 on my netbook and I HATE it!!!
This laptop is Windows 7 and am happy with it but feel I should ".move with the times"
I note that the START button is back on W10,which I like.
I have took all your comments on board and will mull over what to do.

@murraymints....Cheers for having given me 'Best Answer'. However, please bear in mind that you can always alter it by clicking another person who may come along with an even better answer. You should know me well enough to appreciate that I would Not be offended.
@kloofnek... Do Not 'burn your boats' when you are able to install. Do as I think will be the case with our friend murraymints........Hold back on clicking the 'button' to install, until there have been reviews on the Internet and opinions expressed in Answerbank.
