forgot my paypal password, was given a verification code, what do i do now? tried using it to no avail.

Assuming that you were sent an e-mail, you should just click the link (Keep your e-mail open) and it should take you to a page where you type in the verification code and you should then be able to create a new password and log in. I wouldn't be able to help if it's any other kind of communication from PayPal.
