Transferring Video to DVD

I wish to transfer a lot of old videos onto DVD. I bought a unit (Wis AVcapture from northQ) to do this task. I've followed all the instructions for loading the discs etc and it all appears to load and run, but when I try to capture the video from my VCR all I see is a black screen.

Does anyone know the reason for this, thanks

 I'm sorted. Was using an input scart adapter not an output one.
