TV tuner

I live in the UK and i want to get a TV tuner. I am unsure because all i know is that they Play TV, i want them to play BBC1, BBC2, ITV1, Channel 4, five, e.t.c but i dont know weather it would be low quality or weather it would just play internet channels. Please help,

A basic card will play whatever terrestrial channels you receive in you area. You can also buy cards that will decode Freeview signals as well. Both the above options require you to plug an aerial feed into your PC.

It is also possible to connect a cable or satellite box to most cards.

Lots to choose from, quality is usually quite good but don't forget that analogue TV will eventually be switched off. Go for a DVBT (Freeview) card (or one that does both). Try the usual places - Dab, Misco, Novatech, Aria, Ebuyer, Maplin etc. Here are some to get you going:

Is it as good quality as normal TV? and do i need an internet connection?

Yes, MTIH (if I can call you that!), it is good quality, though it still depends on a good aerial connection. I record from an analogue TV card at the moment so as to archive on DVD and it is good. I'm looking to get a DVBT card sometime and expect the quality to be even better. No, you don't need an Internet connection.
