By card reader I'm guessing you mean SIM tray? If so, the answer would be yes.

That part is ok it's inside ...long story the sim card was put in without the tray by mistake.... problems to get it out resulted in will no longer read sim card

Probably not worth the cost of repair. They are pretty cheap on eBay.
