Just a heads-up for anyone that might not be sure of the veracity of an email that looks similar to -
"HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) - REFUND CONFIRMATION"
Hello email address here,
I am sending this email to announce that after the last annual calculation of your fiscal activity we have determined that you are eligible to receive a tax return of £221.58. In order to receive your refund, you need to create a Government Gateway account.
This is a phishing scam. DON'T click any links therein & forward the email in its entirety to -

allen - you're right, the instant reaction of some might be "Oh goody!" & to follow the instructions just because it's from what looks at first glance to be a genuine government department.
I guess the more reports they get, the greater the chance of finding these ne'er-do-wells!
