No 'settings'.
The controls will be on the monitor.
For eg, my Asus monitor has a row of buttons on the bottom right at the front, whereas my Samsung has concealed buttons on the right hand side, and my LG has buttons on the bottom edge at the left.
What is the make and model of your monitor?
Not sure if this helps but if you scroll down it tells you how to get the old control panel options back and change brightness...

There is something wrong with your Windows 10.

What icons do you have on your task bar, from left to right?
Hmm what do you reckon hc? No setting menu after right click. Registry problem or weird shell extension issue. Looking on the web I see that one or two have had this problem but only when running explorer. Naomi get the Edge browser up and running with w10 pronto. Explorer is a dead duck.
Togo, I'll fiddle with my own registry but would be wary of advising others to do so.

Try rebooting.
Monitor Make and model no?

Got it!! The Chair suggested the controls are on the monitor so with nothing apparent I ran my hand under the edge of the monitor and lo and behold the 'sun' symbol popped up! Dunnit! Thanks so much all for your help - and for your patience! x
That doesn't help with your missing start though
me did too naomi ..sob

murraymints, there are no 'buttons'. It seems to work on a kind of 'touch' thingy. How technical is that? Touch thingy? :o)

hc4361, I don't know what you mean.
Lol Naomi see 10.57
sensor rather than buttons..but then my PC is ancient !!
I mean nothing is working when you left click or right click on the Windows logo bottom left of screen. It should be working so there is obviously something wrong
just pleased you got it fixed Naomi xx
You should have a "Settings" or start menu drop in when you right click that logo Naomi. Yo have a fiddly problem there that I am sure is allied with the woeful Explorer browser. I would firstly get the Edge browser running then check again. You will have no access to restore points or security scans etc without it.
I am with you hc on the "registry thing. I am happy to have a go, but only after a chat with my son and preferably with him here. I would not dream of talking someone else through it though.
Togo, I think naomi means 'file explorer', not internet explorer
hc I have just found this very easy to follow walk through that you may find useful. (I know that you have helped a lot with w10 for friends and family) I have certainly saved it to my Favs/Bookmarks for future reference. It is easy enough to do for most people I think.
