I bought a BT broadband extender and it works fine.
I want to add another homespot, but BT no longer make/sell the 500 kit. Would the 600 one work?

I guess the 500 is the number of MB/sec it will handle. 600Mb/sec is faster so shoud be OK.
It sounds more like you mean a powerline adapter than a broadband extender. A broadband extender plugs into a mains socket, picks up the wifi signal wirelessly and re-transmits it, so EXTENDING the range of the wifi signal. A powerline adapter also plugs into the mains but also has a cable connection to your router; a second (or third) adapter also plugs into the mains in a different location and has an internet cable connection to it. If yours is the second system it will work perfectly with the 600 model. On my system I have 500 units linked to 200 units with no problems.
Even more information - they don't even need to be the same make - I link 7-dayshop adapters to Netgear adapters.

Thank you
Yes it is a powerline, so I'll splash out on the gizmo then.
It does meak a difference having reasonable wifi round the house!

One further question - do I have to match/link teh new hotspot thing, or will it be automatic. If I have to match, how?
The adapters have "pair"buttons on them. The instructions for mine tell you to press the "pair" button on one adapter for more than 10 seconds to reset it, then you press the "pair" button on all of the others for about 5 seconds to link them.

OK - I'll do that when the thingy arrives.
Hope not to be talking about this ever again!
Thanks all
But you'll be an expert next time!!
Question Author
Slightly (very?) embarassed here.
What is the thingy I want called? Difficult to buy it if I don't know!
See my post at 12:54 (second reply to you). That gives the names and defines what they do.

but nothing comes up when I google that - or at least they offer kits, which I think include the bit that plugs into teh router.
