Hi
My Acer laptop works fine but recently there has been a problem with my wireless mouse.

When I am using it and trying to click on something to the right of my screen it keeps jumping across to the left and as I again bring it back to centre or right it does the same!

I eventually get it to hover over the correct position and it works ok say to close a page. Cannot discover what is wrong. Help anyone?

You should take off the cheese screensaver, and get a cat.

Is the touchpad thingy still active near your keyboard and are you inadvertently brushing it as you type ?

Otherwise it could be a connection problem. Do other mice have the same issue ? Also maybe plug the mouse into a different port ?
Since it is wireless maybe the transmitter or receiver is faulty. Test them on a different laptop or PC.
Mine sometimes gets a bit erratic if the mouse batteries are getting low - try changing them. It's also worth having the receiver plugged in to the laptop as close as you can to the mouse to avoid random radio signals affecting things. If you can plug the receiver into a USB port at the same side of your computer as the mouse it might help.

Thanks both of you. Yes it is a new mouse of a different make to usual. Batteries are new and the transmitter is plugged in to usb port a foot from the laptop.

I will revert to my original mouse and try that - also try both in a different usb port (I only have two on the Acer laptop and one has a blue surround which I understand from my manual is also for charging items whilst my laptop is switched off!
Thanks
With a name like Moggie I'm not surprised your mouse is a bit jumpy.
Almost certainly a hair trapped across the lens aperture: as you drag the mouse, tension builds up in the hair. When you get to a certain point, the hair flicks across the lens causing the cursor to jump. Then, when you drag the mouse the other way, the process is repeated in reverse.
The blue USB port is USB 3.0, the other one will be USB 2.0. USB 3.0 is about 10x faster for devices which can take advantage of it but is completely compatible with USB 2.0 devices.

No hairs!

If I use 3.0usb for the transmitter the transmitter gets so hot you cannot touch it! Have asked Acer about this and they said use the 2.0 usb for the mouse!
