Is it possible to add RAM to an iPad? The one my wife wants (iPad Pro 9.7") has just 2GB of RAM and it's inadequate. My phone has 3GB.

No it isn't. What will she be running which will make it inadequate?

I don't know, but the larger iPad Pro has 4GB of RAM.
It does. My iPad Air2 had 2gb and it's fine.

We might wait for the new iPads - they're sure to be on the market soon(ish)

The clock speed of the 9.7" iPad Pro is 2.16GHz and the larger model is
2.26GHz. This means that in real world performance (opening and closing apps, multitasking, summoning Siri etc), you won't seen much difference between the two machines.

The reason why the larger iPad has more memory is that it has double the amount of pixels to push around (the 12.9" model is exactly the same size as two 9.7' iPads sitting next to each other).

And you can't add RAM to any iPad.

Thanks, sp and ZM
I have a second hand ipad 2 that does me fine.
I am on my third ipad and its an ipad pro 9.7. I don’t find RAM is an issue but storage has been so I went for the biggest storage memory I could get and am glad I did.....mind you I keep music and books on mine which fills it up
Question Author
All our music and books are in the cloud and backed up to our NAS so that isn't such an issue. We are considering the 128GB cellular model
Why are you wanting one with so much memory when everything is backed up to a cloud device?
Question Author
Because my wife will want to keep it for a few years and heaven knows what she'll do with it. Videos will be a definite and she may not want to keep it all in the cloud.
I went for the 256 cellular for the additional 90 quid. I used quidco for the purchase and will get another 11 quid back. BTW you might be interested in the O2 data deal. 48 quid for 12 gb and it lasts for 12 months....I am a bit peeved, I bought it in november and the same deal cost me 60 quid
Question Author
Thanks for that, Woofgang. We are with EE so will stick with them I expect.

I've read that the cellular version comes with an imbedded SIM but I can't find any real proof of that. Do you know anything about it?
Its called Apple sim and EE is one of the partners. Where I live the only real option is O2 as the connectivity is so poor.

Do you not have wifi at home woof?
yes ZM but I use my ipad in the car a lot and there are many trees and open areas down here with no free wifi
Ah I see.
