Hi.......I have a pc which has a built in card reader and it has(had) the name CR (E))....OK..now I have installed a DVD burner and this has assumed the nameand icon which originally was for the card reader....the card reader now has another name.....The new drive name for the card reader allows me to change it but the DVD drive refuses to allow this and steadfastly sticks with the old card reader name, though they both work fine..............any ideas please?...more of an irritation than a problem..Thanks Commoner

I have had a look round Windows XP and cannot see a way to change the name.

My only suggestion, a bit long winded, would be to uninstall the DVD burner and the Card reader, reboot to remove all the icons, then re-install the DVD burner, then re-install the card reader.

By installing the DVD burner before the card reader it should pick up the correct name and icon.

Right click my computer > manage >  go to disk management > in the bottom right hand pane right click the problem drive > change drive letter and paths... change it to an unused letter (ie DVD to Z: drive) then change the card reader to the now free E: drive. Rename the DVD reader to F: (if you want). Either that or I have misunderstood your question...
