Translation Apps
2 Answers
I use translation apps quite a bit and in general they are very good, even speaking the actual language with gives you a good idea how to pronounce words.
however it depends on the language, the main European languages German, French, etc are fine. but when it comes to lesser known languages like Serbian, Bosnian etc, it's absolutely awful. Words are spoken by a tinny robotic voice which is virtually useless. anyone know why this is and how to solve it.

I have witnessed steady improvement in digital translation software over the years but I think there will always be imperfections due to the amounts of nuances present, at least in all the languages I am familiar with. Much of the impetus for improvement needs of necessity to come from the area/people where the language is spoken and it may be that, in the case of at least some, English is not the most sought after "other half" of the couplet but instead some other language and thus the improvements will not come evenly spread across all alternative languages (English translation might lag behind one or more other languages).
